New Orleans and FEMA are at odds again....go figure...what is it this time you ask....
hummmmm........
Nearly 22 months after hurricane katrina, Federal officials said " they're still waiting for a list of storm damaged streets" in New Orleans.
The Federal management agency is giving New Orleans until July 31, of 07 to submit the list.
Ok....
FEMA set up a "special street assessment team" in Jan of 07' to do the job...so why is it not done?
Don't know...I'm sure they have some good excuse for this...needless to say....
Robert Mendoza, the city's public works director said..."his ability to document street damage has been hindered by a limited staff and other high priority projects".
Now just what would that be...hummmmm
So far to date the city has only provided enough information for project work sheets on 10...
( yes 10 folks ) streets, covering about 30 blocks.
The city has hired an engineering firm to help get the list done by the deadline...
So nice to know we have such expendable funds to pay for this....what I want to know is...where is that "special street assessment team" that FEMA set up in Jan of 07' ?
Here is what I think...we all should walk out our doors and write down all the streets surrounding our homes, our apartments, churches, schools and places of employment or businesses that need to be fixed. Ya think they will except the list?
Or will FEMA say that it was not done professionally?
Now don't ya think FEMA should reimburse the city for this and give them extra for not only the wait, but the red tape?
You be the judge and get the word out on what's happening in your neck of the woods.
Let's all start getting the word out on what we have to deal with...what needs to be fixed... etc...I mean this is really stupid man....
Maybe they are still busy fixin' all those pot holes around town...who knows.
Or they could just be out havin' lunch with our men in black? who knows, I just wish they would get off their butts and get the job done. We have waited long enough.
