I just received this email and thought I would pass along the information for yawl to see and read for yourselves.
" there have been some serious allegatations that funds being donated for vests are not being used for the intended purpose".
( go figure now...yawl already know New Orleans & fowl cheap double dipin' politics go hand in hand regardless of the dept..as long as it is a department that works for the city of New Orleans...your gonna find problems along with crooked cops )
"Robert Stellingworth, president of the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation....
recently testified before the Senate Committee that...
$400,000 in private funds have been raised to procure vests''.
"It was also stated at the hearing that current NOPD manpower is 1200".
Officers on the street have not seen vests in sufficient quantities to indicate that funds are being used as claimed".
Note: Heidi Diekelman has written them suggesting they consider purchasing vests directly and presenting them to officers in a public manner . She also stated the fact that "it would be a shame to have the efforts of their ( Krewe of Shangrila) hard work misappropriated and there is a dire need for vests on the street".
Ok folks now ...The American Deputy Sheriff's Association out of Baton Rouge, La has a scholarship fund for vests for police...check out the web sight and give it a go.....
This information regarding the American Deputy Sheriff's Association , was given to me by my Brother who is affiliated with them.
He is a Sheriff out of Colorado, and a fine one too I might add...He really is great.
so there ya go....that's my story and I'm stickin to it...well unless someone writes otherwise and knows otherwise...hehehehe
