You don't want to see the rest trust me.
It really is ashamed, and yet the storm happen when? like 8/29/05 and yet this is what we still have going on.
Shame on the government, Shame on our President, Shame on FEMA, shame on the insurance companies that screwed all of us....
If you have the nerve, keep watch on this blog and I will post more pictures tomorrow.
Now on with my rant of the day, month and year(s).
Well all righty now all of you do gooders'.
Ya wanna help rebuild New Orleans?
Then get on your phones, pick up a pen if you want or email if you have too.
Just please get the word out.
We still need help.
We need real help man, not just band aides and quick fixes.
Our RSD ( recovery school systems ) are in dire need.
Things such as teaching tools, books man.
Heck we need teachers who care and are willing to do the job.
We need to gather up some money to help out.
They are getting ready to close these schools due to lack of funds.
Lack of pay for the teachers who have never gotten their bonus like promised.
We don't have enough substitute teachers either to help out.
A good percentage of the schools don't have working air conditioning units or heating units...heck you should see some of the lunch rooms they have to eat out of, or the bathrooms they have to use...not to mention the fact that half the bathrooms are always out of toilet paper.
We all know what was aired on T.V.
We all also know that they will pick and chose what they want the public to hear and to see.
If you don't believe me, call up some of the schools here in New Orleans, talk to the principles and find out for yourself what it is they need.
What ever you chose, just don't forget about the children.
We have a high poverty rate here, a lot of folks are still living under I-10 ( Claybourn over pass ) ya don't believe me on that one either...as folks you know down here.
You'll see that some have huge signs by their sleeping bags, and the one's lucky enough to have tents...that say: " I work, I just can't afford the rent".
This is no joke.
The landlords are not restricted on how much they can charge. The rents have gone up two and three times the normal amount.
We paid for a two room apartment ( trust me it was only two rooms, you could actually open the fridge while sitting on the toilet! ) $800.00 a month man.
Now that was the cheapest we could find.
Everything else starts at $1400 and up a month here, whether in the Quarter or elsewhere.
There is no affordable housing. They are closing and knocking down the public housing because they want to "rebuild".
Ya with condos, hotels, and more homes that us working folks can not afford.
But were do they put the homeless in the meantime? no were.
Under I-10.
Yes it does get cold here. We have high humidity , hell it's the south man.
So when it is cold...it is bone cold. Now imagine the folks out on the streets with no hot meals, no warm clothing, no proper shoes, there are families there.
Yes with children.
What does Little Willie Wonka do? hire more Umpa's to do the dirty work and hide. Meaning they just push the homeless else were while the parades are going on to keep from being seen.
They just pull the wool over your eyes and the sad thing, you allow them too.
Yes we have high crime. Wouldn't you if you had to live in an area with these circumstances going one.
The police have never gotten their proper raise, still don't have the proper equipment to do their jobs, the same with the fire department.
We still have poor water pressure from busted and broken water lines.
There are still problems with water in the gas lines.
Our LASPCA is also in dire need.
Food, bedding, money to purchase traps..to run the feral cat programs.
To house all the dogs running around with collars still on them, left behind and forgotten.
Most of these dogs are still so scared of people you can't go near them to help them.
We find dead animals in the streets still that are being hit by cars, killed by folks taking their frustrations out on the animals, or dead animals that have starved to death.
This is sad people. I thought New Orleans, La was part of the good old USA.
What the hell happen man.
We didn't get the money promised by Bush, didn't get the help promised by FEMA, the Army Corp of Eng. tells CNN that the levee's are up to par and can handle a storm of strong category 3 to 5.
Ya right, my farts are stronger then the levee system here.
On our local news they tell us, if you live near a levee and a storm is headed your way leave the area and head for higher grounds.
The levees are not strong enough to handle a strong category one storm.
Yet CNN says otherwise. Well I live here, I know better.
If you think this has no effect on you or your lively hood your wrong.
It does.
Lack of education breeds ignorance, discrimination, crime, poverty, gangs, drug addiction, orphaned children, etc...etc..etc...
It tears everything down around it like a wild fire and spreads out.
What is in our front yard today will be in yours tomorrow.
Good example.
Yesterday for Martin Luther King day in Jena, La.
A group from Mississippi called the Nationalists marched in that small town.
They carried hand guns and shotguns.
As they said, "in case someone wants to get ignorant we'll dance".
Who and what are they?
White supremest, some marched with Nazi flags, and other's with the confederate flag. What a shame.
All because of the Jena six problem which was mishandled in the first place.
Shame on that judge.
All of the kids should have gotten in trouble for the fight.
Hell the "white kids" who hung the noose should have been disciplined asap instead of sitting back and watching the situation get out of hand.
Their parents think their children were in the right. What a shame.
Ignorance and discrimination. A lack of compassion.
Who gets punished? the black children. Labeled as bad kids, trouble makers etc.
You know all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch.
Yes, I do realize that all are to blame, so are the parents.
What are they teaching their kids at home? and why did the school not catch it or intervene? because parents like to sue if they feel it's wrong.
Well talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
What's good for the goose" ya know.
People we have a big problem here that needs to be addressed and fixed.
It looks to me like we are all walking around with our heads up our buns man.
Let's pull it out and fix the problem at home, fix the problem at school, at our work places.
What a shame to have activists that preach hatred and discrimination.
What a shame to have teachers who don't care or have given up because the system works against them.
We need proper education programs that everyone can afford to go to.
We need to change our public school systems and kids should have to wear a uniform. This will keep the kids from wearing gang colours and items.
The parents need to start taking responsibility for their children regardless.
There should be help available.
Not just for the kids, but adults. Like more free Adult education programs.
Hell we have none here, nor do we have the after school programs. A lot of them were cut due to lack of funds.
We have already been warned when to have a heart attack...go figure.
Our doctors, nurses and specialists have either left town for better pay, couldn't handle the stress, or committed suicide due to lack of help.
We have no mental health facilities that are readily available.
Our hospitals are not properly equipped so keep that in mind when you come down to party and spend your money in the bars, restaurants and on t-shirts.
Then go home and say you helped us.
Don't think about supporting other small business' as they have to close their doors due to the increase in rent and utilities.
Complain about how crabby some of the locals are when all the screaming and such starts.
Why?
Because while you are drinking and spending that dough which is good.
We are working around the clock to fix things without any help.
Without any support.
Without any government like we were promised.
No food pantries, no needle exchange programs, no good education, no affordable housing, not enough shelters with bed's for folks to go around.
Not enough Police on the force to protect not only us, but you when you visit.
Not enough doctors, nurses, medical help to go around.
I love my city. I love my home. I love my locals all Creole to the bone.
We are one, one colour, one nation under God.
WE only segregate ourselves. What a shame.
Help! please help.
Please do some research and check it out and do what you can.
It does affect you. It affects us all..our jobs our lively hood.
Our lives.
Show some compassion and think about the other guy.
Don't patronize us, just jump in and do what you can OK.
Together as one.
Like we should as civilized human beings and let's get our government in working order man. People make some noise and get ride of the bad.
Lets' turn this page together to make a difference, I'm so tired of constantly repeating my self and I know that my blog is not popular for that reason.
But hell man, let's get real here people.
OK, I'm off the soap box.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE
I SAY" PEACE IN THE CITY, PEACE IN THE VALLEY, PEACE IN OUR SOULS.
NOW LET'S MAKE IT RIGHT!
